We are looking for a full-time Project Architect to join our growing and fast-paced team in an architectural role focused on projects of varying scales and technical complexities. Project Architects are the leaders of developing architectural plans and will work hand-in-hand with Project Managers and the design team to create exceptional projects. A Project Architect should have extensive knowledge of the building process, from conceptual design through construction, and be able to apply architectural principles, practices and techniques consistently and with exploratory drive. The right person for this role will be an excellent communicator, strategic thinker and collaborative problem solver, as well as have significant experience in code analysis and detailing/documentation. A candidate needs to be able to work independently and collaboratively, with a passion for craft and an eye for detail and quality.

We are looking for someone that thrives in the multi-dimensional, problem-solving environment of our industry. This position is also expected to engage in the activities and advancement of the studio, as well as providing positive support, mentorship and training to junior staff.

This position is available at either our Los Angeles, Colorado Springs or Madrid offices.

Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture

• License required for Project Architect (unlicensed applicants will be considered for the title Project Captain II)

• 8-15+ years of experience for Project Architect / Senior Project Architect

• Software experience required to include BIM, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite

• ArchiCAD and AutoCAD experience is preferred

• Ability to work both independently and in teams

• Excellent organizational skills

• Detailed and technical drafting skills

• An astute eye for design sensibilities

• Strong redlining skills to provide clear direction to teams

• Knowledge of agency processing and code compliance

• Attention to both detail and big-picture concepts

PROJECT CAPTAIN – Create construction documents for building projects, in conformance with local regulations and best practices. Attend meetings with client, engineering consultants, contractors, and material vendors. Coordinate the technical drawings and specifications produced by the engineering consultants, integrating those systems with the architectural documents. Collaborate with others to ensure quality control by checking and making revisions to the drawings and other necessary documents. Prepare finished plans and specifications. Interpretation, organization, execution and coordination of: drawings and documents; codes and AHJ; research. Architectural and company standards compliance. Construction administration support via preparation of RFI, submittal and shop drawings responses. Investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions. Adherence to project schedule.
